Iowa Pediatric Asthma & Allergy is happy to welcome you to our practice. At IPAA, we provide specialized health services for children.
We offer a comprehensive evaluation for respiratory complaints including chronic or recurrent cough, rhinitis (allergies), shortness of breath, exercise intolerance, chest tightness or pain, difficulty breathing or noisy breathing. We manage conditions including asthma (also known as RAD or reactive airway disease), bronchitis, bronchiolitis, pneumonia, allergic respiratory disease and Chronic Lung Disease. Congenital malformations, pectus excavatum, scoliosis, tracheomalacia, laryngomalacia are also included.
We also provide Pulmonary care for other diseases with respiratory compromise such as neuromuscular diseases like spinal muscular atrophy (SMA and muscular dystrophy), gastroesophageal reflux (GER), aspiration and sickle cell disease.
Scott Sheets, DO
Dr. Scott Sheets, a board certified Pediatric Pulmonologist, has been specializing in children’s lung disease for over twenty years. His special interest is asthma, cough in children and trying to teach families how to manage their respiratory problems in the early stages at home.
Dr. Sheets performed his undergraduate training at the University of Iowa, graduating with a degree in Medical Technology. He was awarded the Army Health Professional Scholarship and attended medical school at Des Moines University. Pediatric Internship and Residency was completed at William Beaumont Army Medical Center.
He received his Fellowship training at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Pediatric Allergy & Pulmonology Division. Since completing his training, Dr. Sheets was Chief of Pediatric Pulmonology at Tripler Army Medical Center for 4 years, where he was an attending physician in the Pediatric Intensive Care and Director of the Cystic Fibrosis satellite center. He spent six years at Blank Children’s Hospital as an attending Pulmonologist, until opening his private practice in 2009.
